Cassy’s tips will have you feeling confident in your own skin and ready for summer — get ready to have #skinnngoalzz!!!
1.What would be your top tips for teenage girls who suffer with acne? What to do when you get a zit?
Your skin is not your best friend’s skin, so what works for her, may not work for you. DO NOT self-diagnose. DO NOT do what your friend is doing because it works for her. If you are able get a professional to help find products and treatments that work best for your skin type.
-Drink lots of water.
-Keep your hands off your face: we touch thousands of unsanitary things daily, then touch our face. This spreads germs and bacteria, which can cause a breakout, as well as a current ones to spread.
-If you get a zit: Keep it clean. Wash your face in the morning and at night before bed. You also want to clean after exercising, and keep pillow cases, phone, and headphones clean.
Take it easy. Do not go overboard on harsh scrubs or cleansers: they will irritate the skin, and will not help.
-Be consistent:
Develop a consistent skincare routine and stick with it. The biggest problems I see with teen acne, is teens do not take time every day to care for their skin, then over obsess when they get a breakout.
-Be patient:
If you are taking medication or starting a new treatment for acne, it usually takes about 4 weeks for it to work. Stick with it!
-LEAVE THE ZIT ALONE! Now that I said that, I know no one will do that, so if you’re going to break the rule, here’s how:
- Disinfect area with alcohol swab
- Use Disinfected sterile needle to open area. Use cotton tip applicator to push out debris.
- Alcohol swab the area again to remove any bacteria left on the surface of the skin.
*Keep your hands off the area. *
- What is the perfect morning / night routine for teenage girls?
Morning and night: you should be cleansing your face. First eye makeup removing cleanser to remove makeup and debris. Then cleanse face with a cleanser best suited for your skin type. Followed by moisturizer/sunscreen DAY, then moisturizer NIGHT.
3. What are your three favorite skincare products right now ?
–EltaMD moisturizer/sunscreen SPF 40
–Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
-My Ultimate Acne Cream (compounded prescription)
- Is there a certain way I should be cleansing/ moisturizing my face?
When Cleansing-use fingertips, with luke warm water, circular motion. You need to make sure you are cleansing you face by first cleansing to remove all the dirt and debris and then a second time to get your face clean. It is important to use the right product for your skin type. SUNSCREEN! I would use It daily. So many issues I have or have come across could have been prevented by sunscreen!
5. If you could go back to highschool what would you have changed about your skincare routine if anything?
The secret is there’s no secret. We all have the basic knowledge we need. The problem is we want there to be a secret “easier way” or “magic pill” to perfect skin. It’s much easier than doing what we’ve been told our whole life:. The truth is our moms, grandmothers and Doctors have given us all the “secrets “ we need.
