THE ROME GUIDE

ROME ROME ROME…. one of my very favorite places in the whole world & I feel so thankful my family and I went this year!! Along the way home from Capri we made a quick weekend stop in Rome. Rome truly is the “eternal city” as the ancient blends with the new. You can easily see and visit incredible history at the Vatican, the Colosseum, the Pantheon and other amazing fountains, buildings and legendary art and museums.  Also the pasta, pizza and gelato is absolutely amazing!!Our family has been to Rome before so we made sure to go to all our favorite places on our Roman holiday! && here is our collection of our musts while in ROMA-

WHERE TO EAT/ GET GELATO…

-Giolitti’s Gelato is THE BEST IN THE WORLD in the words of my sister “It takes me to another place”! The Oreo is my FAVE my fam also loves the dark chocolate!! TIP- sit down and order your ice cream don’t wait in the line because they bring your ice cream out in super cute cups and its frozen– if you wait in line the gelato melts!

– Dal Bolognese is a Rome classic — with the best pasta bolognese ever!! & a super good atmosphere and view of the Peoples Square!

-Life Restaurant-must have the cheese ravioli with black truffles— soooooo GOOOD!

-Pierluigi- beautiful front patio– with delicious pasta and seafood great atmosphere.

-Dar Poet- BEST. PIZZA. EVER!!!!!! thin and crispy!!!

-Palm Court at Hassler Hotel for a beautiful lunch in the garden restaurant — great food.

WHERE TO STAY-

  • The Hotel De Russie is one of my absolute favorite hotels in the world! & its Right by the Spanish steps–My favorite thing to do is before dinner go to the outdoor courtyard at the De Russie and relax– such good vibes & most beautiful courtyard ever!!!
  •  Hassler Hotel is so beautiful and at the very top of the Spanish steps — prettiest view in all of Rome!

WHAT TO DO-

unnamed-52-walk the Peoples Square and check out the shops along the way!

  • walk up the Spanish Steps for the most amazing view of Rome
  • vespa tour through Rome is the way to go….!! most efficient and FUN way to see Rome from a locals perspective. Cross the Tiber River and stop at Piazza Navona and the Bernini Fountain!!
  • tour the Vatican-(PS.must have your shoulders and knees covered). ALSO– The Pope speaks to crowds twice a week when he is in town-such an awesome experience!
  • St Peter’s Basilica, Sistine Chapel are also must-sees!
  • Colosseum tour
  • Pantheon-almost 2000 years old and is still the worlds largest unreinforced concrete dome. The hole in the center looks to Heaven…a MUST see!
  • Trevi Fountain-the legend claims you should throw 3 coins in the fountain…
